Three more provinces to go for the Department of Labour National Employment Equity Roadshows

The Department of Labour’s national public hearings on the Employment Equity Amendment Bill & Regulations are set to continue in three more provinces this week.

The national roadshows which commenced on 2 October 2018 has already visited the provinces of Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Northern Cape and the North West.

On Tuesday 16 October the EE roadshow will be heading to the province of Mpumalanga, Fortis Hotel 167 Jellico St, Witbank, Emalahleni.

This will be followed by Limpopo province on Wednesday 17 October at Hayani Guest Lodge, 19 Palmietfontein Rd, Polokwane. The Free State province will follow suit on Thursday 18 October in Kopano Nokeng Lodge, 14 Mazelspoort Rd, Bloemfontein.

The public hearings are open to employers or heads of organisations, academics, assigned senior managers, consultative EE forum members, human resource practitioners, trade unions representatives and employees.

Held under the theme” Real transformation makes business sense” the public hearings are focused on soliciting comments from stakeholders on the amendments and EE reporting advocacy. The Department of Labour recently published the Employment Equity Amendment Bill and the Draft Employment Equity Regulations in the Government Gazette in response to the slow pace of transformation in the workplaces. The Department is using the public hearings to gather comments to the amendments.

The EE public hearings are held from 8h30 to 14h00. The public hearings will culminate on 26 October 2018 in Johannesburg, Gauteng province. Comments to the amendments will be accepted until November 20.

NB: The EE 2018 Online reporting season is now open. The online EE reporting closes on 15 January 2019.
