Justice and Constitutional Development on court services at Plettenberg Bay and Knysna Magistrates’ court

Knysna and Plettenberg Bay Magistrates Courts continue to provide justice services not disrupted by storm and fire

The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development has observed reports suggesting that court services at the Plettenberg Bay and Knysna magistrates’ court have been suspended as a result of the tragic storms and fire.

However, the department would like to place on record that court services are continuing at the Plettenberg Bay and Knysna Magistrates’ court. The court has had to postpone some of the cases due to the absence of accused persons and witnesses. Most accused persons and witnesses could not reach the courts due to road closures.

The department wishes to reiterate its commitment to provide access to justice to the people. Members of the public who need to access justice services may visit these courts.
