Minister Mbalula joins PRASA in launching the Gauteng leg of the joint community security project
Following a successful launch of Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) “People’s Responsibility to Protect” PR2P programme in the Western Cape, the Minister of Transport Mr Fikile Mbalula will join the PRASA Board Chairperson, Mr. Leonard Ramatlakane in Gauteng to launch the project in Pretoria.
The programme aims to create partnerships between PRASA and local communities living near railway lines. Communities will then provide a force multiplier additional to PRASA security in protecting rail infrastructure.
Members of the community will receive basic rail related security and safety training in order to patrol and guard rail infrastructure.
