Labour hosts media networking session, 29 Mar

The Unemployment Insurance Fund invites all media in Gauteng to a Media Networking Session scheduled to take place on 29 March 2016 at Misty Hills Country Hotels, Muldersdrift from 9h00 to 10h00.

The purpose of the session is to appraise the media on various programmes of the Fund, particularly the Unemployment Insurance Bill. The Bill is currently undergoing parliamentary processes; however the Fund would like to share some of the proposed amendments with the media.

The UIF would also like to share progress on active labour market programmes introduced in 2008 to mitigate the impact of unemployment during the global economic meltdown experienced during that time. The programmes are administered under the Labour Activation Unit of the UIF and they consist of: Training Lay-Off Schemes, Training of the Unemployed and Turnaround Solutions.

The briefing session will also afford members of the media an opportunity to learn about the latest developments within the Fund that are aimed at improving claims processing.

Topics to be covered are as follows:

  • Unemployment Insurance Fund amendment bill
  • Labour Activation Programmes
  • Business Operations Turn Around Strategy

The Media Networking Session will be followed by the UIF Seminar with employers and members of the media are welcome to join the seminar if interested.

Confirmations of attendance should be sent to Mr Perseverance Mathebula on (012) 337 1467 or Perserverance.Mathebula@labour.gov.za.
