MEC Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana hands over 71 bicycles different schools, 25 Feb

The MEC responsible for Transport, Safety, Security and Liaison, Ms Mapula Mokaba-Phukwana has the pleasure of inviting you to Witness the distribution of bicycle to the Leaners of Capricorn District (Molemole Municipality) at Nthabiseng Secondary School.

The MEC will be handing over 71 bicycles to six different schools at Capricorn Districts, for various Municipalities. Schools that will receive bicycles are Dithabaneng Primary School, Bodupa Primary School, Madikana Primary School, Mamothalo Primary School and Letjatjie Primary School reasons being those learners are staying in rural areas and away from the school .The strategy solution is to supply bicycles to scholars in order to improve mobility generally and specifically to assist children in travelling to and from school.

The Schools shall provide lock-up and storage facilities to provide for the security and safety of bicycles at the schools, also be responsible for the distribution of the bicycles to the learners. To guarantee the safety of bicycles, the school shall provide burglar proofing on the windows as well as security doors at the entrance. The school principal must be responsible for the safe keeping of keys.

Learners will be responsible for the day –to-day maintenance of the bicycles and must ensure that bicycles are always clean and roadworthy.

The Department of Transport shall oversee the overall training with regard to the Shova Kalula Bicycle partnership Program.
