MEC Ishmael Kgetjepe delivers keynote address at Aveng Kutlwanong Centre Prize-Giving Ceremony, 29 Jan

Invitation to attend the Aveng Kutlwanong Centre Prize-Giving Ceremony in Glencowie, Limpopo

The Aveng Community Investment Trust is actively involved in nurturing and building mathematics and science excellence among South African learners. The Kutlwanong Maths and Science Centre in Glencowie, Limpopo is one of Aveng’s flagship CSI projects. The centre provides mathematics and science tuition to 480 Grade 10, 11 and 12 learners from 19 schools across the District. 

This Limpopo-based centre, which has consistently produced exemplary matric results well above the national benchmark, has received recognition and support from The Department of Education and is currently ranked in the top three of 21 centres run by this non-profit organisation.

In 2015, 140 learners from the centre wrote matric and the results were exceptional:

  • A pass rate of 99%
  • Bachelor passes for 110 of the 140 students
  • 39 students achieved an overall average of 80% or above for the year
  • 39 distinctions in mathematics and 35 in science
  • The top learner achieved an overall average of 91%, seven distinctions and 100% for maths and science

In order to acknowledge and celebrate the matric class of 2015, the Aveng Community Investment Trust is hosting a prize-giving ceremony on Friday 29 January 2016. The MEC for Education in Limpopo, the Honourable Maaria Ishmael Kgetjepe, will be delivering the keynote address and the event will also be attended by the District Director of Education, senior members of the Provincial Government, senior representatives from Aveng and key executives and Board members from Kutlwanong.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11:00 followed by a lunch at 13:00.
