Deputy Minister Bheki Cele engages with Tshwane community on drought, 14 Mar

Interventions on drought continue in Gauteng

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, General Bheki Cele together with the Gauteng MEC of Agriculture and Rural Development, Honourable Lebogang Maile will visit areas affected by drought in the Tshwane District on Monday, 14 March 2016. 

This is part of an ongoing stakeholder engagement forum by the Deputy Minister and the MEC and a follow-up visit to the affected areas of Hammanskraal, Stinkwater and Winterveldt.

General Cele and MEC Maile will on the day visit projects and further engage the farmers. The day will also see to the distribution of animal feed and the drilling of boreholes equipped with solar panels. The community will also receive food parcels as part of government’s intervention support programme on drought.

The department has in addition held agriculture disaster risk awareness campaigns complemented by farmer study groups in the province.
