International tourist guiding celebrations - a celebration of a successful and sustainable sector
The Department of Tourism in partnership with SANParks and the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) will host the International Tourist Guiding Celebrations at Skukuza, Kruger National Park– Mpumalanga.
Themed “building a successful and sustainable tourist guiding sector” the two-day event will provide stakeholders a platform to discuss the importance of building a successful and sustainable tourist guiding sector, and ways of exploring adventure within the Natural and Cultural Context.
Discussions will then be followed by a game drive of the Kruger National Park and a bush dinner Guest speakers:
- Professor Philip Calcott – Astronomer, World-renowned publisher and Researcher Topic: The South African Night Sky – tapping into our tourism assets.
- Professor Dr Sampson Mamphweli – Esteemed Author and Researcher Topic: Green Economy and Climate Change – the Role of Tourist Guides in Minimising Threats to the Environment.
- Ms Chaeli Mycroft – Accomplished Quadriplegic Adventurer and Social Activist Topic: Adventure Tourism, an Industry perspective Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ms. Tokozile Xasa, will present her keynote address at the Gala Dinner.
