The elderly of BCM’s Needs Camp targeted for human settlements project

In prioritizing the needs of the elderly, the Department of Human Settlements will handover homes to the elderly in Needs Camp under the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM) on 13 October 2016. 

The EC MEC of Human Settlements, Helen Sauls-August and BCMM Executive Mayor, Cllr Xola Pakati, will handover completed units to the elderly beneficiaries in the Needs Camp 1072 as part of the department’s Enhanced People’s Housing Process (EPHP).

The Needs Camp 1072 project is part of the EPHP, a programme where beneficiaries are actively involved in the decision making over the housing process, product and make a contribution towards the building of their own homes. The total cost of the project is R144 266 456 with 1072 approved beneficiaries. To date, 781 houses have been completed. The project is expected to be completed on 31 December 2016.
