Habitat Iii Consultative Workshop to consolidate South Africa’s position on New Urbanisation and Human Settlements Development
The Deputy Minister of Human Settlements, Zou Kota-Fredericks will tomorrow open a two day consultative workshop at the Southern Sun Hotel near the OR Tambo International Airport.
The workshop which ends on Thursday aims to consolidate South Africa’s position on human settlements and urbanisation matters as part of the Habitat III ‘New Urban Agenda’ for the 21st century.
The United Nations will hold its third Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development (Habitat III) in the city of Quito, Ecuador from 17 to 20 October 2016.
Habitat III seeks to secure a renewed global commitment to addressing housing and sustainable urbanisation and South Africa will be expected to implement the resolutions of the forthcoming conference in Ecuador.
It is therefore important that out country and Government play an active role in shaping the outcomes of the conference in consultation with our Stakeholders.
