KwaZulu-Natal police are appealing to anyone who might have information regarding the accident which resulted in the death of Alson Nkosi and Siyabonga Masondo, to please come forward. There are allegations in the media that they were shot at before their vehicle lost control and overturned.

We are requesting that those persons who have information to support these allegations to please come forward so that the validity of these claims can be tested. On 16 June 2016 at 20h55, Hlobane police attended to an accident that occurred at Eastmine Road. A red VW Golf was found at the scene and a passenger was certified dead. The driver and four other passengers were taken to hospital for treatment. Later Alson Nkosi died at hospital due to his injuries.

There was no evidence at the scene to indicate any shooting had occurred. Allegations that alcohol was found on the scene and that the driver was under the influence of alcohol will also be a matter that we will be investigating. A case of culpable homicide was opened at the Hlobane police station for further investigation. We are still awaiting the results of the post mortems to establish what the cause of death for both individuals was.
