Kevin Paul clinches South Africa’s first gold
Government celebrates with award winning swimmer, Kevin Paul, who powered his way to victory and claimed the country’s first gold at the Rio Paralympics. Paul’s strong finish, in 1min 04.86sec, has paved the way for South Africa’s medal chase.
Last night’s winning performance by world champion Kevin Paul shows that the price of success is self-determination, hard work and dedication. In 2008 Paul took gold at the Beijing Paralympic games.
Acting GCIS Director-general Donald Liphoko, “Government congratulates our sporting star on his amazing performance. Your achievement is testament to your dedication to the Paralympic spirit. We are rallying behind you and other South African participants at the Rio Games. ”
Government encourages South Africans to use the power of social media to congratulate Paul on his success; and to support and encourage the rest of the team participating at the Rio Paralympics.
