Professional cycling team, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka, will reveal its 2017 team and brand new kit in Cape Town this week.

The multi-national squad, known around the world as ‘Africa’s Team’, arrived in the Western Cape at the weekend, ahead of the launch event on Thursday.

The Western Cape Government welcomed the team’s decision to host their 2016 training camp and reveal event in the province.

Alan Winde, Minister of Economic Opportunities, said: “Through our Project Khulisa growth strategy, we have made it our goal to position the province as Africa’s cycling capital. We are seeking to attract 100 000 cycling tourists annually. Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka has had a remarkable 2016 season and was the most winning team in the 2016 Tour de France.

Their launch will attract global media exposure, and further promote the Western Cape as a world-class cycling destination.”

Anroux Marais, Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport, said: “By hosting their 2016 training camp and reveal event in the province, Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka will make a meaningful contribution to the Western Cape Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport’s mission to encourage excellence and inclusiveness in sport.
