Gauteng Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation distances itself from Velaphi Khumalo racist remarks

The department distances itself from employee racist remarks

The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation would like to distance itself from the barbaric and racist utterances made by one of its employees, Velaphi Khumalo on Facebook.

The racist remarks are his personal views and the department does not condone such hateful and disturbing racial slurs.

“The Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation views the hateful post by Velaphi Khumalo in a serious light. Our key mandate is nation building and social cohesion. His sentiments take our country backwards and do not reflect what the Gauteng Provincial Government stands for.” Says MEC Faith Mazibuko.

The department has a communication policy which guides how employees must conduct themselves on social media.

“An internal process is underway to address this matter”, added MEC Mazibuko.
