Gauteng Legislature hosts job-shadowing programme as part of Women’s Month, 22 Aug

GPL takes A Girl Child to Work Day - Helping 50 young women achieve their dream

As part of ongoing activities to commemorate Women’s month, the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) will on Tuesday, 22nd August 2017 host fifty (50) post-matric girls for a job-shadowing programme. The GPL is this year partnering with GPL Human Resources, Women Multi-Party Caucus and Vodacom to ensure the initiative is a success.

Tomorrow, GPL’s Women Senior Management will dedicate their time to engage and inspire young women to thrive as future leaders. This will be through showcasing the diligent work they do on daily basis, while also transferring essential leadership and professional skills to the young women.

The aim of this programme is to prepare and educate these young women about the work environment; as well as empower them with skills and tools that will assist them as they embark on their journey of academic and professional growth. The engagement sessions will provide a critical window into the day-to-day operations of the various career fields represented within the GPL Departments.

The young women will each be paired to one Senior Manager wherein they will spend the day observing the professional as she goes about her job. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about a career and a chance to practice interaction at a professional level.

Details of the programme are as follows:

Date: 22 August 2017
Time: 8h00 – 15h30
Venue: Gauteng Legislature, Main Building

Members of the Media are invited to cover the engagements.
