Gauteng hosts International Conference on Gauteng Transport Authority, 9 to 11 Mar

Gauteng Premier, David Makhura, together with MEC for Roads and Transport, Ismail Vadi, will host a three-day consultative International Conference on the concept of Transport Authority for the Gauteng City-Region.

The consultative conference, which will be held under the theme: “Transition towards a Transport Authority”, will take place from 9 to 11 March 2016 at the Birchwood Hotel, Boksburg.

The objective of the conference is for Local and International Transport experts to discuss various ways of integrating transport systems under the various transport authorities. The conference will further offer Gauteng Province an opportunity to learn and understand several models of Transport Authorities that are functional and effective both locally and internationally.

By bringing relevant partners and stakeholders into one “conversation”, the conference is expected to provide the Provincial government to gain capacity and engage with international experts on their experiences. The conference will assist in selecting building blocks best suited for the establishment of a Transport Authority as well as to understand requirements needed for an effective and efficient Transport Authority in the Gauteng City Region.
