Gauteng Provincial Legislature hosts public hearing on Fund-Raising Amendment Bill, 2 Jun

Have your say in the Fundraising Amendment Bill

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s committee on Social Development will tomorrow hold a public hearing on the Fund-Raising Amendment Bill (B29B-2020) (Section 76) from 10am at The Fairways Hotel, Randburg.

The Bill aims to, amongst others streamline the Fund-Raising Act by consolidating the several government funds into one fund called the Disaster Relief and National Social Development Fund; to focus on proactive mitigations of disasters and promote the social development of communities. The consolidation of the Funds will streamline administrative processes and enable more efficient services to poor communities and reduce costs.

Public participation is very important and necessary so that citizens can influence decisions made by government that will impact their lives. South Africa's Constitution requires that Legislatures and Parliament provide a forum for public consideration of issues like Bills and facilitate public involvement in the legislative processes and conduct its business in an open manner.

Members of the media are invited, as follows:
Date: Friday, 2 June 2023
Time: 10:00am
Venue: The Fairways Hotel, Randburg
