As part of the celebrations of Freedom Month, the Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation will host the Freedom In Our Lifetime Concert. This concert is a first of its kind to be hosted in the Free State province and will help in commemorating this historic day on South Africa's calendar.
Freedom Day 2016 is a highly significant occasion as South Africans have just celebrated 20 years of the Constitution and are celebrating 22 years of Constitutional Democracy.
It is an opportunity not only to celebrate 20 years of the Constitution, freedom and democracy, but to reflect on how South Africa`s democracy and freedom was achieved, the progress made in the past 22 years and how South Africans should work together to implement the National Development Plan (NDP).
The theme for the 2016 Freedom Month celebrations is “Together building better communities – Local Government is everybody’s business”.

Artists and DJs who will be performing at this concert include Zonke, Black Motion, Finzo, Prince Kaybee, Naked DJ, Lerato Kganyago, Speedsta, Ms Cosmo, Lulo Café, Culoe De Song, Mo Flava Twasa, Thiwe, VJ Nutty, Major League, Ltido, T-Deep, Khaya, Deetoy, Ma-e, Vigilante, Glenstar.
Other acts include: Kayza, Beetz, Soul Mo, Master Heavy, Scova, Happy K, Vertigo, Shatti, Deco, DJ Hunter, Shaxe, Immortal & Legoody, Konopo and Oros in "n Lang glas.
“The Freedom in Our Lifetime Concert is aimed at fostering social cohesion while on the other hand ensuring that our people are constantly educated about the historic significance of Freedom Day. Our freedom as South Africans did not come at a silver platter; it was brought forth by brave men and women who selflessly gave their lives.
It is for this reason that we are obliged to commemorate them” said MEC N.S. Leeto.
