Free State Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation hosts Dlala Mantombazana Girls Tournament in Qwaqwa, 26 Aug

The Free State Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, in partnership with the Free State Department of Education, will be hosting the Dlala Mantombazana Girls Tournament which coincides with the National Women’s Month and is dedicated to the emancipation of young women in sport.

This tournament also seeks to address the participation of young women in sport and a total number of 600 young women are expected to participate in this tournament.

Participants will take part in 3 sport codes, namely: Chess, Gymnastics and Drum Majorettes. The Dlala Mantombazana Girls Tournament will take place as follows:
Date: 26 August 2017
Venue: Phuthaditjhaba Stadium, Qwaqwa
TimeE: 8h00

The event is expected to be addressed by the Free State MEC for Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, the Free State MEC for Education, the Mayor of Maluti a Phofung Local Municipality as well as the Mayor of Thabo Mofutsanyana District Municipality.

“In recognition of the Girl Child during Women’s Month, the Department organized the Dlala Mantombazana Girls Tournament in Welkom in 2016. From 2017 onwards, the games will be staged in Qwa Qwa, in the Thabo Mofutsanyana District. Other recreational sport activities dedicated to Women’s Month are the Women’s Day Soccer Tournament and Women’s Recreational Games.

These programmes play a critical role in promoting the participation of women in sport”, said MEC Mathabo Leeto.
