As part of annual celebration of Mandela’s life and Mandela Day on the 18th July, Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs will visit Oranjeville in Metsimaholo Local Municipality to give back to those less fortunate by means of donations. The donations will range from school uniform, food parcels and blankets.
About 70 kids from Kraanvoelvlakte Primary School who are staying at a farm near Oranjeville will be given a school uniform. Food parcels will be donated to 15 families and blankets to 10 elderly people. Other work that will be done at the school include among others cleaning of the yard, cutting trees, painting and grass cutting.
Under this year’s theme of “Action against Poverty”, the donations are to decrease the burden of poverty and are in response to a global call of action for people to realise what humanity is all about and recognize individual ability to make inputs and engage the world around them.
There will also be birthday cakes for the two elderly women who are celebrating 103 and 106 years.
For this nation to grow it is imperative that as individuals and collective, we care for one another and work together for the upliftment of this country.
