Free State Arts and Culture hosts Youth Social Cohesion Dialogue, 21 Jun

Part of the mandate of the Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation is to ensure the promotion of Social Cohesion and Nation Building. The important role of Social Cohesion and Nation Building has been brought to the forefront by the recent unfortunate events of racism that have manifested themselves in our country.

In a quest to continue to stem the tide of divisive tendencies such as racism, which threaten to tear our country apart, the Department will stage a Social Cohesion Dialogue with white communities in Lejweleputswa. The dialogue will be staged under the following arrangements:

Date: 21 June 2016
Time: 11h00
Venue: Ferdi Meyer Hall (Welkom)

Expected to attend this event are young people who were born in and after 1994 from the black and white communities in Lejweleputswa; Members of the Free State Executive Council; Mayor and Speaker of Lejweleputswa District Municipality as well as representatives from other community structures.

Other efforts by the Department to inculcate a sense of nation-hood and socially cohesive communities include Social Cohesion Dialogues, celebration of days of national significance, promotion of national symbols and singing of national anthem at various government and community activities.
