Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula addresses 50th anniversary celebrations and gala dinner at Mzomhle High School, 30 Sept

Minister Mapisa-Nqakula returns to her former high school

On Friday, 30th September 2016, Minister Mapisa-Nqakula will return to her alma mater to deliver the keynote address at the 50th anniversary celebrations and gala dinner to launch the Mzomhle Alumnae Support Project (MASUPRO).

Mzomhle High School known to have produced excellent results in apartheid South Africa, was the first school in Mdantsane, East London to offer secondary school education to Africans. Established in 1966, Mzomhle High School is also notable for its distinguished alumni.

To mark this milestone, the school launched a week-long series of programmes and activities, beginning with an opening event on the 26th of September 2016, while the closing event and gala dinner will be held on Friday, 30 September 2016. The ceremony will be attended by, inter alia, Premier of the Eastern Cape Mr Masualle, members of the regional leadership, academia and civil society.

Additionally, MASUPRO will be unveiled at this auspicious gala dinner. MASUPRO is an association comprised of all former Mzomhle High School students whose sole objective is to raise funds for the revamping and further development of the school.

A number of past students based locally and abroad are expected to be part of this historical moment.
