Five candidates make the further cut for Public Protector job
The Ad Hoc Committee established to nominate a person to be appointed as the new Public Protector today made a further shortlist of five candidates, from the initial shortlist of 14 names.
The five names are:
Judge Serajudien Desai
Judge Sharise Erica Weiner
Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane
Adv Muvhango Lukhaimane
Prof Bongani Majola
The Committee further agreed to set aside Wednesday, 24 August 2016 as a date on which members will deliberate on the five candidates and choose the ultimate candidate for recommendation to the National Assembly (NA).
The Committee report to the National Assembly is expected to be tabled by 31 August 2016. Depending on whether the recommended candidate receives the required two thirds support from Members of the NA, that name will be sent to President Jacob Zuma for appointment.
