First Open Tender Process road project to be officially opened
Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport Dr Ismail Vadi will on Thursday, 4 June 2016, officially open the rehabilitated Cedar Road (D1027) in Fourways.
The R96 million road project is part of the Open Tender Process pilot project where adjudication was done in the presence of public members as well as the media.
The project’s objectives included the upgrading of both Cedar Road North and South into a dual carriageway status as well as improve its pavement life from Valley to Runnymead roads.
Cedar Road forms part of the road network of Gautrans and acts as an inter-urban collector for the surrounding townships. Significant development has been experienced in this area over the past 15 years and it is anticipated that it will continue to experience this growth.
The upgraded road is envisioned to improve mobility and decrease traveling times. The project was completed within the allowed budget and within the allowed contract period.
