Fake Twitter accounts in the name of the Speaker of the National Assembly
The Office of the Speaker of the National Assembly has noted with grave concern the mushrooming of fictitious twitter accounts impersonating Speaker Baleka Mbete.
The fake accounts are:
@HonSpeakerMbete
@Baleke_Mbete
Those behind these bogus accounts are intent on deceiving the public by regularly posting disturbing posts purporting to be those of the Speaker.
We urge the public and the media to ignore all postings from these accounts.
Parliament has reported all these accounts to Twitter and will be consulting on possible legal avenues against the perpetrator(s).
The Speaker’s official twitter account is @MbeteBaleka.
