The Department of Rural Development and Land Reform is warning the public against engaging with social media accounts, namely Facebook accounts, which have been falsely opened in the name of Minister Gugile Nkwinti.
It has come to the department’s attention that four fake Facebook accounts in the name of the minister are currently active. These contain various posts, comments and photographs attributed to the minister.Â
The minister wishes to distance himself from these comments and calls on South Africans who have engaged on the said Facebook pages to be aware that these are the views and comments of faceless individuals-not those of the minister.
The department further urges those individuals who have fraudulently established accounts in the name of the minister and who continue to write comments and post photographs on these pages to refrain from doing so.
Minister Nkwinti has never had personal Facebook or twitter accounts.
