Road Traffic Management on Court case between eNatis and Tasima

eNatis matter with Tasima goes before ConCourt

The long running legal dispute between Tasima and the Department of Transport is to be heard by the Constitutional Court in Johannesburg tomorrow (24 May 2016).

The Minister of Transport, MP, Honourable Dipuo Peters and Transport MEC’s from all provinces are expected in court to hear legal arguments on the legality of the contract giving Tasima the right to continue operating the electronic national transport information system (eNatis) which is the official register for all vehicles, driving licences, and contraventions.

The matter was first heard by North Gauteng High Court which found in favour of the department and the Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) in June 2015.

Tasima then took the matter on appeal to the Supreme Court of Appeal in Bloemfontein and the court ruled in their favour in December last year.

The government appealed to the Constitutional Court, as the final court of arbiter to bring closure on the matter.

The dispute is about whether the five year extension of contract granted to Tasima from 2010 to 2015 to is valid or not.
