Productivity South Africa urges Limpopo business to embrace continuous improvement
Research around the world has shown that the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement was a key anchor to successful economies, a meeting was told in Polokwane on Tuesday.
Mothunye Mothiba, CEO of Productivity South Africa (PSA), was addressing dozen of people at the Limpopo Regional Productivity Awards.
He said such countries also embraced small and medium enterprises as the engine of their economies.
“What is different about them is that enterprises contribute over 60% to employment creation and 35% to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP),” Mothiba said.
Seaparo Sekoati, MEC for Limpopo economic development, environment and tourism said in his key note address that business needs continuous improvement in their processes and systems.
“My advice to businesses is to keep your eyes on the ball.
As government, we are very proud of those entrepreneurs who have embraced the concept of the continuous improvement” he said.
This awards ceremony also present an opportunity for the performers to be recognised.
The criteria for the awards included the impact that was achieved by the business, the productivity improvement and to what extent was the staff involved in the enterprises.
The Limpopo award ceremony form part of other regional awards which will culminate in the national award event in Johannesburg on October 25.
