Eastern Cape Legislature on swearing-in of new MPL

A Member of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) was sworn in by the Honourable Speaker, Ms Noxolo Kiviet, as the new Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) today. The newly appointed MPL Hon. Litha Law Zibula replaces the former EFF Member, Mr Themba Wele. 

The Hon. Deputy Speaker; Ms Bulelwa Tunysiwa, Hon. Whip and EFF Leader; Mr Siyabulela Peter and Legislature senior officials were among those present when Hon. Zibula affirmed his faithfulness to the Republic of South Africa and to uphold the Constitution.

In welcoming the new MPL, Hon. Kiviet stated that “from now onwards your life changes as an honourable Member. The public will give you respect given your constitutional responsibility. As the institution we will provide you with all relevant information together with the Rules of the House to arm you for the new environment”, she said.

The Deputy Speaker congratulated the new MPL to the multiparty institution quoting from the Freedom Charter which says “the people shall govern”. She said “as MPLs we have a responsibility to make this happen. You must use this space to make your mark as an honourable Member. Never miss an opportunity to persuade those in power to influence change. I am certain that when working together we can build our province” she concluded.

Hon Zibula was also welcomed on board by Hon. Peter. The new MPL, a B Com graduate and a registered Accountant is a former Nelson Mandela Region EFF Coordinator. He is currently serving as the Provincial Deputy Chairperson of the EFF.
