The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature will host a Youth Parliament on Friday, 10 June 2016 to commemorate 40 years of the Soweto Youth Uprising under the theme “Forty years of unbroken call of Youth Voices for sustainable youth development”.
This sitting seeks to provide a platform for dialogue between young people and Members of the Provincial Legislature on issues affecting their livelihood. It also highlights Legislature’s commitment to use its oversight and law-making roles in transforming the socio-economic status of young people in the Province.
- Topics for debate will focus on:
- Provincial youth development strategy
- Entrepreneurship and youth
- Youth employment accord
- Youth and rural development
- National youth service programme
Youth formations from different political parties represented in the Legislature, National Youth Development Agency, Youth Council and Student Organisations will converge at the Raymond Mhlaba Chamber, Bhisho.
