Eastern Cape Legislature commemorates Nelson Mandela Day in Lady Frere, 15 Jul

The Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature will this year commemorate Nelson Mandela Day in Lady Frere on 15 July 2016. The Honourable Speaker, Ms Noxolo Kiviet, Members of Provincial Legislature (MPLs) and Emalahleni Municipality Councillors will spend the day at Freemantle Boys High School.

To honour the late former President, tata Madiba, a donation of 100 shoes will be made available to benefit 100 learners. As part of the 67 minutes Honourable Members together with all participants will roll up their sleeves to clean and paint the Freemantle Boys High School. The School is a boarding facility located in Lady Frere and was established in 1939. Emalahleni Mayoral Cup winners will also be awarded on this day.

Tata Madiba spent 67 years of his life advancing the struggle for the liberation of all South Africans from political, social and economic oppression. Having been started in 1998 by the United Nations (UN), Nelson Mandela Day is an annual International day of humanitarian action and an opportunity for every individual around the globe to contribute to positive change.
