Basic Education hands over Lower Ngcolokeni Primary School in Qumbu, 26 Aug

The Department of Basic Education will tomorrow, Friday 26 August 2016 through the Accelerated Schools Infrastructure Development Initiative, ASIDI, hand-over the R23 Million Lower Ngcolokeni Primary School in Ngcolokeni Township just outside Qumbu in the Eastern Cape.

Since inception in 2011, the ASIDI programme has built and delivered in excess of 165 state of the art schools across the country, a large portion of which are in the Eastern Cape. Over and above this, the initiative has provided water to 596 schools, sanitation to 414 schools and electricity to 307 schools that previously had no access to these basic amenities.

As one of the schools built as part of the R8.2 billion ASIDI programme, Lower Ngcolokeni Primary School stands as testament to the goals of the program in restoring the dignity of our people and restore their faith in education by eradicating all the inappropriate structures and replacing them with state of the art school buildings.
