Eastern Cape Education Department recruits for vacant posts

In a bid to address educator shortage and fill substantive vacant posts, the Eastern Cape Education Department requests all professionally qualified educators including those that are employed by School Governing Bodies and private schools that have an interest to join the public service to submit their profiles at its Head Office in Zwelitsha.

This recruitment project is meant to last until the 31st of March 2016 and will help fill 1 665 Post level 1 vacant substantive posts in the department’s 23 districts.

The package to submit includes:

  • Formal application for employment forms (Z83); and
  • Each person should at least provide not less than 3 options for placement

These applications and personal profiles should be submitted at the department’s head office and be addressed to Nyameko Tshibo (Mr) the Director for Human Resource Planning and Provisioning Services, at Department of Education (4th Floor, Steve Vukile Tshwete Building, Zone 6 Zwelitsha).  Faxed documents will be accepted too as long as they are submitted before the said date.

It should be noted that the process of placement will be done in consultation with the various School Governing Bodies and the recognised trade unions that are participating in the Education Labour Relations Council in this province. The process of appointment will be on a “first come first serve basis” but subject to each person meeting the requirement of the available post.

Applicants may be required to undergo interview sessions in the selection process and their educational qualifications will be verified as required by the relevant legislation. We acknowledge that the available posts may not be adequate to absorb every applicant but as posts become available from time to time.
