Water and Sanitation on Hack4Water exhibition

The DWS's Hack4Water exhibition brings out the best in SA's hackers

The Department of Water and Sanitation's Hack4Water exhibition currently underway in Sandton, Johannesburg, has managed to dig out  some of the country's best water and sanitation related innovations.

One such innovation is the 'Leak Proof Toilet' which is comprised of a Leak Proof Green Cistern System. The system has nautilus valves, taps and shower heads which reduce water consumption through reduced water flow and alleviate leaking taps leading to lower maintenance costs.

The two-day event has various technology/innovation geeks housed under one roof showcasing their best work dedicated at tackling water and sanitation challenges that the country is currently facing. These range from water borne sanitation systems that use less water to incredible tools aimed at reducing the water-wasting water leaks.

Under the same roof information technology gurus, aka 'Hackers' are busy with a challenge to come up with Information Communication Technology apps to help assist in the plight for water access and decent sanitation. The ones who will come up with the best app will be announced as winners tomorrow, 22 April 2016.
