Minister Senzeni Zokwana visits Eastern Cape to oversee drought relief operations, 29 Mar

Drought relief engagements continue in Eastern Cape

The Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana together with the Eastern Cape MEC of Agriculture, Mlibo Qoboshiyane will visit the Joe Gqabi District Municipality to oversee relief operations and provide support to areas affected by drought.

The district was the first to declare a drought disaster in the province. The Eastern Cape has reported livestock mortality of more than 100 000 by the first week of March this year.

Minister Zokwana and MEC Qoboshiyane will on the day engage the farmers and distribute livestock feed during a project visit. The Provincial Department of Agriculture will provide 100 tons of lucern and energy blocks to help livestock farmers.
