Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa addresses 21st Annual NEDLAC Summit, 9 Sept

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa will tomorrow, Friday, 09 September 2016 address the Annual NEDLAC Summit at the Birchwood Hotel, Boksburg. The Summit, organised under the theme, Rapid Growth to create decent jobs, will be attended by top business, labour, government and community leaders.

The Summit is expected to review NEDLAC activities for the year 2015/2016, assess the socio-economic landscape and address key challenges facing the country while charting a way forward with particular reference to addressing the challenges of poverty, unemployment and inequality.

In this regard, the Summit will also be addressed by Minister of Labour Mildred Oliphant, Jabu Mabuza from business, Laura Kganyago representing communities and Bheki Ntshalintshali representing organised labour.

The Summit takes place against the background of numerous policy initiatives that the country has undertaken including the National Development Plan, New Growth Path, the Nine Point Plan and a number of social accords on skills, youth employment, green economy, local procurement and similar other initiatives.

The Summit also takes place in the context of preparations for the Job Summit scheduled before the end of the year.
