Deputy Minister Pamela Tshwete hands over media classroom to Izwilesizwe Primary School, 22 Apr

The Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Ms Pamela Tshwete will officially handover a media classroom to Izwilesizwe Primary School in Pietermaritzburg, under the UMgungundlovu District Municipality on Friday 22 April 2016.

Izwilesizwe Primary School put Pietermaritzburg on the map by winning the first prize during the Baswa Le Meetse (BLM) competitions during the 2015 edition of the South African Youth Water Summit (SAYWS).

Baswa Le Meetse is a key project of the 2020 Vision for Water Education Programme (2020 VFWEP), whereby Grade 6 learners convey messages of water use efficiency, water conservation and health and hygiene through art forms such as drama, traditional music, praise singing, poetry and posters. Baswa Le Meetse aims to address the challenges of water scarcity, water use efficiency and water sector skills shortage in a sustainable way by educating and empowering learners on water conservation.

The state of the art media classroom sponsored by MTN Foundation will play a major role in improving the quality of teaching and learning for both the educators and learners in the school. The media classroom is equipped with computers, data projector, multifunctional printer, modems, data cards and R1000 internet subsidy.
