Deputy Minister Pam Tshwete hands over media classroom to Injongo Primary School in Khayelitsha, 18 Aug

Mrs Pam Tshwete, MP, the Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation will hand over a media classroom sponsored by MTN Foundation to Injongo Primary School on Friday, 18 August 2017, in Khayelitsha.

In 2016, Injongo Primary School put the Western Cape on the national map when they emerged victorious at the Baswa Le Meetse (BLM) competitions in the music category during the annual Youth Water Summit held in June 2016. The school took position one in the music category as well as position two in the drama category.

Baswa Le Meetse (Youth in Water) is one of the projects of the 2020 Vision Programme aimed at educating learners about water resource management and promotion of water sector careers to address the sector’s scarce skills challenge. Through this project the grade 6 learners convey health and hygiene messages through arts media such as drama, music, poetry, praise singing and posters.

The state of the art media classroom sponsored by MTN is equipped with 21 computers and an inter-active board that will be utilised for school projects.

Media is invited to attend the hand-over ceremony as follows:

Venue: Injongo Primary School
Date:  Friday, 18 August 2017
Time: 11h30

After cutting the ribbon, the Deputy Minister will proceed to Assembles of God for a formal ceremony.
