Deputy Minister Henrietta Bogopane–Zulu arrives in Geneva

Deputy Minister, Ms Henrietta Bogopane –Zulu arrived in Geneva to lead the delegation in briefing the Committee on the Rights of the Child

Team South Africa will be before the (CRC) in Geneva to interact on matters pertaining to South Africa’s implementation of the provisions of the CRC.

The CRC will hold its seventy-third session at the Palais Wilson on 19-20 September 2016, during which it will review the reports on the Convention and its Operational Protocols. South Africa’s report to the convention on the Rights of the Child and its Optional Protocol on the Sale of Children, Child Prostitution and Pornography (OPSC).

The CRC will seek to cover the treaty provisions, as well as thematic priorities or challenges that the Committee has identified.

The constructive dialogue with the CRC will take a two day format, with day one itinerary will be on the presentation of the Country report and engage on the questions posed to the team.

The briefing to the session is expected to conclude on 20 September where South Africa will also make inputs to the Optional Protocol themes.
