Deputy Minister Mduduzi Manana rolls out Decade of the Artisan campaign, 13 to 14 Oct

Deputy Minister Manana to visit selected employers and talks to high school learners in Gauteng as part of promoting the ‘The Decade of the Artisan’ Programme

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Mr Mduduzi Manana, MP, will roll-out the Decade of the Artisan advocacy campaign over two days, in Vereeniging, Meyerton, Vanderbijlpark and Sebokeng, in the province of Gauteng on the 13 and 14 October 2016.

On the first day, the Deputy Minister will meet with executives of the engineering sector at Arcelor Mittal; executives of the automotive sector at Ipelegeng Transport and executives of the hospitality sector at the Lord’s Signature Hotel in a bid to encourage them to partner with TVET Colleges and avail their workplaces as training spaces for artisan learners and for lecturers to be exposed to latest technologies. He will thereafter host a cocktail dinner for employers.

On the second day, approximately 1000 learners from local high-schools will be encouraged to consider artisanship as a career of choice in the 21st Century..
