The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Ms Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, will on Tuesday, 07 June, visit Disaneng village, which is part of Ratlou Local Municipality in North West Province. The Deputy Minister’s visit to Disaneng rural community is part of project Mikondzo.
Mikondzo Project is a Social Development service delivery initiative which is targeting at improving the impact and access to social services in a more efficient and integrated manner. It is expected that the Deputy Minister will pronounce interventions through which Social Development will implement in partnership with the community. Such interventions will also help to improve the living conditions of the community, in particular, poor families.
Some of the issues identified as challenges during community dialogues with the people of Disaneng include high levels of youth unemployment, alcohol abuse as well as prevalence of teenage pregnancy and school drop-outs.
