Settlement Agreement signing ceremony for Mkhuzane and Nodunga community land claims for land previously owned by MONDI Limited
The Deputy Minister of Rural Development and Land Reform Mrs Kwati Candith Mashego-Dlamini will lead the ceremony for the signing of Settlement Agreements in respect of the Mkhuzane and Nodunga community land claims on commercial forestry land previously owned by MONDI Limited in the KwaZulu-Natal province.

The ceremony will be preceded by a site visit to the Mkhuzane project which is located in the Richmond area (about 30minutes’ drive from Pietermaritzburg). Deputy Minister Mashego-Dlamini will be joined by the MEC for Agriculture and Rural Development in KwaZulu-Natal, Mr Cyril Xaba and other leaders from the province.
As part of the settlement agreements, each of the two communities will sign a lease agreement with MONDI Limited in respect of the land awarded to them, for the purpose of commercial forestry. The lease agreements will initially run for a period of 10 years, subject to further renewal thereafter. The agreements form part of the settlement of the land claims lodged by the Mkhuzane community in the Richmond area (uMgungundlovu District Municipality) and the Nodunga community in the Stanger area (Illembe District Municipality).
