Deputy Minister Buti Manamela and Sasol hand over mobile science laboratory at University of Mpumalanga, 17 May

The Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation, Mr Buti Manamela together with Sasol will hand-over a mobile science laboratory to the University of Mpumalanga, Mbombela.

The aim of this initiative is to encourage learners to take up Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics as a subjects.

The mobile science laboratory will be handed over to the University of Mpumalanga to service schools in the Bohlabela and Ehlanzeni Districts.

The laboratory, which is a custom-designed mobile science vehicle, will travel to schools that do not have adequate resources for science experiments.

Some of the partners in this initiative include: the National Education Collaboration Trust (NECT), Sol Plaatje University in the Northern Cape, University of South Africa, South African Radio Astronomy Observatory (SARAO), Centre for Advancement of Science and Mathematics Education (CASME), Osizweni Science Centre in Secunda, KZN Department of Education, Department of Mineral Resource and Energy, Boitjhorisong Resource Centre in Sasolburg, North-West University and SciBono Discovery Centre.
