Deputy Minister Buti Manamela addresses schools drama competition finals, 26 Nov

Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Mr Buti Manamela will address the final of the schools drama competition on Saturday 26 November 2016.

The main aim of the competition is to give the learners an opportunity to interpret their understanding of the events of June 16 and what it means to them today. The use of drama as a medium in this case gives the young people an opportunity to participate in the arts and showcase their talents on a professional stage.

The competition launched at the Market Theatre, and is judged by a high profile panel of judges that includes poet & theatre director, Napo Masheane and television & theatre actress Baby Cele.

Since the launch, the learners have been performing under the creative direction of Aubrey Sekhabi and Meshark Mavuso.

While this year the programme launched as a pilot in Gauteng, plans are already underway to take it to all nine provinces next year with partnership from the National Lotteries Commission.
