Deputy Minister Pamela Tshwete brings water relief to Ndwayana Village

The Deputy Minister for Water and Sanitation, Pamela Tshwete partnered with Adcock Ingram to bring water to the residents of Ndwayana Village in Ngqushwa Local Municipality who have been in dire need of portable water.

Five district municipalities in the Eastern Cape are declared drought disaster areas including Amathole of which Ngqushwa Local Municipality falls under. Some water sources dried up due to lack or little of rain in the past few months. Both the farming communities and domestic water users are affected.

Adcock Ingram initiated support to communities which are most affected by the impact of drought. They joined forces with the Department to identify needy communities in the Eastern Cape and Free State and to form part of water distribution in those areas. Adcock Ingram provided 1500 of 25 litre containers filled with filtered water to the needy communities.

In her speech, the Deputy Minister mentioned that the Department appreciates the contribution made by Adcock Ingram towards the drought relief. “Adcock Ingram is a company that manufactures medication but they saw the need to assist communities that are struggling to cope with water shortage. By the way, people also use water to drink their medication”, she added.
