Deputy Minister Bheki Cele engages forestry communities in Umtata, 8 Dec

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, General Bheki Cele and MEC for Rural Development and Agrarian Reform, Mlibo Qoboshiyane will engage forestry communities in the OR Tambo District Municipality on Tuesday, 8 December 2015.

The Deputy Minister and the MEC will raise awareness on agro-forestry as it offers potential for greater food security in the country. Issues affecting small holder foresters and the biofuel industry will also form part of the imbizo. The biofuel industry also has potential as a key source of employment. The province has potential for large – scale forestry development based on water availability, climatic and physical conditions. DAFF took an initiative of ensuring that forestry is managed sustainable to achieve the national objectives of job creation and economic development.
