Deputy Minister General Bheki Cele promotes youth participation in agriculture, forestry and fisheries
Following the successful launch of #Youth in Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (YAFF) awards in 2016, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries General Bheki Cele will continue encouraging youth participation in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors when he attends the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF) Youth Career Expo in Barberton, Mpumalanga on 15 June 2017.
Hosted under the theme, “Harnessing Investment for youth empowerment towards South Africa’s economic development and future prosperity”, the exposition will feature guest speakers and displays where various sector stakeholders will exhibit their services and products and give insight on new developments in the sector.
Information and insight on the different facets of the sector will also be provided, with topics ranging from financing, youth development/support programmes, access to markets, digitisation of the sector, etc.
Aspiring young farmers, youth structures such as the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA), the Commercial Agri Youth Chamber and Members of Diplomatic Corps, CEOs and chairpersons of various boards and from State Owned Enterprises (SOEs) will be on site to provide information on the diverse opportunities available in the agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors.
