Labour embarks on community outreach programme in Maluti TVET College, 27 to 28 Jul

The Department of Labour bringing its services closer to the people

In a quest to up the pace of service delivery, the Department of Labour took a decisive decision to embark on a series of community outreach programmes. These outreach campaigns are aimed at galvanising strategic stakeholders, partners and clients of the department not only to rally behind our programmes and activities, but learn more about our services and the benefits thereof.

Of paramount importance during these campaigns is for the department to deliver quality services right at the door step of our clientele effectively and efficiently.

To this end, as part of this series of these outreach programmes, the department is currently embarking on a week-long campaign in Phuthaditjhaba, Qwa Qwa. This campaign started yesterday (25 July 2016) with the Public Employment Services Bus, the bus with the necessary Information Technology infrastructure to register work seekers on our database whom will be matched with job opportunities as and when they become available, registering students at the University of the Free State, Qwa Qwa campus.

This bus is stationed at the university for two days, 25 and 26 July before moving to its next stoppage which will be Maluti TVET College (main campus) from the 27 – 28 July. Of critical importance to note is the fact that the main event of the entire drive will be the employer session as well as the career exhibitions which will be held at the college on the 28th July.

This employer campaign will see scores of employers from different sectors attending a session aimed at soliciting their buy-in into our programmes and services. This will run concurrently with the career exhibition whereby a number of stakeholders would be presenting a variety of career opportunities available at their institutions to attendees.

The campaign will be sealed on a high note with the Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) Mall campaign on Friday the 29th July. This will be held at Setsing Crescent Shopping Centre from 9h00 until 17h00.  It is also important to note that not only UIF services will be rendered during this campaign, but all other branches of the department such as Compensation Fund (CF), Inspection and Enforcement Services (IES), and Public Employment Services (PES) will be represented and the services thereof provided right at the shopping centre.

Through the mobile computer systems of the department, workers having challenges with payments of benefits and/or any other UIF, CF, IES or PES related issues will be instantly assisted at this event. The department therefore calls upon all clients with matters relating to any of those branches to come and enquire about such.
