The department wants to express its dismay and disappointment at the leaking of the confidential documents talking to the third phase relief funding it is working on for the sector. In its quest to ensure that there is transparency in its efforts to assist the sector, the department held a consultative session with the sector organisations on Wednesday the 13th January 2021.
The department agreed to share the documents with the industry on their request but emphasized that these were confidential and that they were still in the draft phase. This was done on the basis that we trusted the leaders of the sector organizations.
Department of Sport Arts and Culture wants to set the record straight, the third phase relief funding has not been announced by the department and as such will not engage on the enquiries being received by the department on the applications process. We request that the sector should wait for the official announcement that would be made when the processes have been finalized.
Once again the department wants to inform the sector that it neither issued any information nor announced the third phase of relief funding to South Africans. The department is always working hard together with the sector in developing and growing the sectors.
