Social Development launches 2016 Pink ODI, 27 Jan

The Deputy Minister of Social Development, Mrs Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, in support of PinkDrive, invites the media to the breakfast launch of the 2016 Pink ODI. Selected Protea Players will be in attendance, as they once again show their support for breast cancer awareness.

The PinkDrive is powering South Africa’s first and only mobile Women’s Health Mammography and Gynaecology Units. The campaign’s primary message is ‘Early Detection Saves Lives’.

All PinkDrive units travel to semi-urban and urban areas around South Africa with the aim of enabling all medically uninsured access to women’s health services. These services include free education on women’s health, free mammograms, free pap smears, free clinical examinations and how to do breast self-examinations.

The Pink ODI match will take place on 12 February 2016, South-Africa vs England.

The Department of Social Development is committed to keeping mothers alive, empowering women, strengthening the family and reducing orphaned and vulnerable children. Please join Deputy Minister Bogopane-Zulu for breakfast and find out what is planned for Pink Day 2016 in support of PinkDrive, and how you can help us make this the best Pink Day ever.

The breakfast is scheduled to take place as follows:

Date: Wednesday, 27 January 2015
Time: 8h00
Venue: The Long Room, Bidvest Wanderers Stadium.

Media can RSVP by contacting Ms Emilie Olifant on 082 903 9250 or at EmilieO@dsd.gov.za.
